Mobility with ERASMUS+

Since the creation of ERASMUS in 1987, the mobility opportunities made possible by the European Union have changed considerably. Nowadays, every EU citizen has the possibility to live several weeks or months abroad, regardless of their situation or their age. For 2014-2020 period, the new ERASMUS+ programme is no longer devoted exclusively to students; young people, learners, apprentices, adult learners, teachers, youth workers, etc. can participate as well.

Here is a short presentation of the mobility possibilities offered by ERASMUS+:
  • Pupils from nursery school to secondary school:
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Short-term exchanges and blended mobility (virtual exchange and on-site visits, from 5 days to 2 months): Pupils from nursery school to secondary school accompanied by school staff
      • Long-term study mobility (from 2 to 12 months): Pupils over 14
  • Teachers and school staff (from nursery school to secondary school):
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for school education staff: from 2 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Mobility: from 2 days to 2 months
      • Short term joint staff training events: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Students:
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for higher education students and staff
      • Study period: from 3 (special conditions) to 12 months
    • Key Action 1 Erasmus Mundus joint master degrees (masters-level students): at least 8 weeks over 1 or 2 academic year(s)
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Blended mobility: from 5 days to 2 months
      • Intensive Study Programme: from 5 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Knowledge Alliance: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Interns and recent graduates (for less than one year):
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for higher education students and staff
      • Traineeship period: from 2 to 12 months
  • Higher education staff:
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for higher education students and staff
      • Teaching period: from 2 days (special conditions) to 2 months
      • Training period: from 2 days (special conditions) to 2 months
    • Key Action 1 Erasmus Mundus joint master degrees: at least 8 weeks over 1 or 2 academic year(s)
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Mobility: from 2 days to 2 months
      • Short term joint staff training events: from 5 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Knowledge Alliance: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Apprentices (vocational education):
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for VET learners and staff: from 2 weeks to 2 months (recent graduates for less than one year can participate)
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Blended mobility: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Vocational education staff:
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for VET learners and staff: from 2 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Mobility: from 2 days to 2 months
      • Short term joint staff training events: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Adult learners:
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Blended mobility: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Adult education staff:
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for adult education staff
      • Teaching period: from 2 days to 2 months
      • Training period: from 2 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Mobility: from 2 days to 2 months
      • Short term joint staff training events: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Young people (outside the school system):
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for young people and youth workers
      • Youth exchanges: young people from 13 to 30, from 5 to 21 days
      • European Voluntary Service (EVS): young people from 17 to 30, from 2 to 12 months (short-term EVS from 2 weeks to 2 months is possible under specific conditions)
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Blended mobility: from 5 days to 2 months
  • Youth workers:
    • Key Action 1 Mobility project for young people and youth workers
      • Youth workers' training and networking: from 2 days to 2 months
    • Key Action 2 Strategic partnerships
      • Long-term mobility: from 2 to 12 months

  • Businesses:

  • Researchers:
